New Mexico holds some of the largest mountain lions in the country, with toms regularly exceeding 100 pounds and some reaching upwards of 190 pounds. Black bear hunting with hounds is equally thrilling — dogs pick up the scent and push the bear until it trees, giving you an ethical shot opportunity. Both hunts are physically demanding, so come prepared and in good shape.
Hunt Details
All hunts are fully guided with a professional dog handler and trained hound pack. The dogs pick up a fresh track, pursue the animal, and tree it — then you close in for the shot. There are no size restrictions on mountain lions. Choose guided-only (you arrange your own food and lodging) or fully outfitted (meals and lodging included in camp). The Ruidoso area has great Airbnb options for families if you go guided-only.

For 5% of your trip cost, we guarantee your hunt. If the outfitter cancels, goes out of business, or a wildfire shuts down the area — we rebook you on a comparable hunt at no extra cost.
